Simple Things saw in their third year in fine style. The 16 hours of music they put on in various rooms spread out over 2 main venue areas was imaginative, varied and of a really high calibre. Colston Hall saw most of the live acts – Nicolas Jaar, The Field, Pantha Du Prince, Modeselektor, whereas the Island Complex, no more than 10 minutes away by foot, hosted most of the DJs. The Island Complex is made up of various “Old” buildings – The Old Firestation, Crown Courts and Police Cells making up its core. All in all, we had an amazing day with none of the artists on the bill proving a disappointment.
Below is a selection of Lavinia Photography’s photos on the day. She’s a Bristol based photographer and filmmaker. Her Tumblr is well worth your attention. For a more wordy review, have a look at my review on Data Transmission.
